25th April 2013 is World Malaria Day bringing attention to the efforts, successes and challenges in the fight against malaria around the world.
Malaria is an infection of the red blood cells, transmitted by the Anopheles mosquito. It is a deadly disease, especially for young children. There are about 700,000 deaths each year, mostly in Africa, where a child dies every minute from malaria.
Advice for travellers
