Chinese New Year 2022

Chinese New Year falls on 1 February 2022, with celebrations beginning on 31 January and concluding with the Lantern Festival on 15 February 2022.

2022 is the year of the Tiger.

As a result of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases brought about by the new Omicron variant, many countries around the world have rules in place which include restricting large events where many people come together such as Chinese New Year celebrations.

Advice to Travellers

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) currently advise that all direct flights from the UK to mainland China have been suspended, and a future review date has not yet been given.
